Chapter One and a Half

2026: Chambers Bay & Gamble Sands

This year's trip ran the Washington coast-to-desert double — the fescue and Puget Sound views of Chambers Bay into the high desert links of Gamble Sands, with a stop at Newcastle overlooking the Seattle skyline. Four rounds, one back-to-back champion, and a new name on the Top Ramen trophy.

Tanner goes back-to-back

Tanner Darrell entered the week as the reigning Lo Mein champion and left as the first two-time winner in trophy history. A 75-82-76-71 for 304 gross — nineteen shots clear of second place — closing with a final-round 71 to seal it. His name now sits on the trophy twice in a row, a first for the event.

Top Ramen — Collin Brown

A 280 net at Chambers Bay put Collin Brown's name on the Top Ramen trophy for the first time — the best net score the award has seen since it was introduced in 2022, beating Lawrence Chen's inaugural 319 by nearly forty strokes.

Every Lo Mein champion earns the crest and, apparently, a gold blazer to go with it — the BSS answer to Augusta's green jacket. Jesse Shen (2024 winner, center) with fellow champions, patch and all.

Field Update · 20th Confirmed

Welcome, Edwin Fuh

BSS 2027 fills its 20th and final spot with Edwin Fuh — and the ranking board just got a lot more interesting.

A plus-2 handicap walks into the field, and suddenly Tanner Darrell's back-to-back Lo Mein reign looks a lot shakier — Edwin is the new overall favorite the moment he tees it up, the lowest handicap BSS has ever welcomed. His credentials check out just as well: Edwin worked directly with Bryson DeChambeau at the 2024 U.S. Open, seen here with him and the trophy itself, and as far as BSS lore is concerned, he's the reason Bryson won it (satire — but we're not ruling it out).

He joins the field with zero BSS scoring history, which puts him dead last on the all-time ranking board below — for now. Nobody expects him to stay there.

The BSS Ranking System

Match play points earned across four Team Champ Cup trips (2022 Pinehurst, 2024 St. George, 2025 Arcadia Bluffs, 2026 Washington). A win is 1 point, a tie is 0.5. Click any column to sort — this is the board the captains draft from.

Chapter Four

BSS 2027 — Bend, Oregon

The next Banana Split Shootout heads to the high desert. Twenty players, five days, and the start of a brand new team era.

June 24–28, 2027

Bend, Oregon

Central Oregon's high-desert golf country — ponderosa pines, volcanic rock, and some of the best public and resort golf in the Pacific Northwest. The group's largest trip yet, and the debut of the Lo Mein vs. General Tso team format.

Full field, no waitlist. Handicaps span roughly 0.5 to 20.1 — from Tanner Darrell's scratch game at the top to the high side anchoring the pool. That spread is exactly what makes the draft interesting: two captains building rosters from the same shallow and deep ends of the field.

Chapter Five — Battle for Bend

The 2027 Draft

For the first time, BSS teams aren't assigned by seniority or ethnicity-coded tradition — they're drafted. Two captains, one snake draft, nineteen players on the board.

Captain
Team Lo Mein
Drafted by Tanner Darrell — reigning Lo Mein champion (304 gross, 2026) and the field's low handicap at 0.5.
  • Pick 1 — on the clock
  • Pick 2 — TBD
  • Pick 3 — TBD
  • Pick 4 — TBD
  • Pick 5 — TBD
VS
Captain
Team General Tso
Drafted by Aaron Dodgson — reigning (playoff) General Tso, back to prove the highest-net crown was a fluke.
  • Pick 1 — on the clock
  • Pick 2 — TBD
  • Pick 3 — TBD
  • Pick 4 — TBD
  • Pick 5 — TBD
Why a draft, and why these two. BSS has run two team eras — Whites vs. Asians, then OGs vs. Newbies — both fixed groupings that mostly tracked tenure. 2027 breaks that mold: instead of a static split, the two most recent individual award winners captain their own rosters, picking straight off the all-time ranking board above. Tanner enters as both the #9 all-time points leader and the back-to-back reigning Lo Mein champion; Aaron enters off a four-player General Tso playoff win, with a career trajectory (14th all-time, 31.3% win rate) that gives him plenty to draft around. Expect the same handicap math that's driven every BSS team score for six years — low-index anchors, mid-pack grinders, and the wildcards at the bottom of the ranking board — to decide who takes the podium in Bend.
